Five Boys Clinch The Top In Owensville
Sullivan wrapped up week four with strong finishes at the Owensville Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18. Five varsity Eagles swept their classes for first place, three landed second and two took third.
Camden Henderson (120) clinched the top of his division. He locked up Tristan Powell (West Plains) in 0:12, Henry Storm (Fatima) in 2:57, Mavrick Ratliff (Central Park Hills) in 1:39, Colten Simon (Veritas Christian Academy) in 0:51 and Hunter McCollough (Dexter) in 1:13.
Colten Roach (132) kept his perfect record alive at Owensville. The senior kicked off Saturday with swift pins over Jasper Sisk (Central Park Hills) in 0:25 and Marcus Miller (Missouri Military Academy) in 0:09. Roach also delivered technical falls over Eli Ryan (West Plains) and Logan Laux (Fatima).
Eli Peregoy (24-1) put up a clinic on the mat, taking first at the invitational. He brought down Michael Pfeifer (Missouri Military Academy) at 2:30, Clayton Gilkey (Dexter) at 0:28 and Chase Froelich (Veritas Christian Academy) at 0:53. The senior also shut out Liam Callahan (St. Francis Borgia) and Pfeifer in technical falls.
Ollie Borton (14-11) ran the table through his competition. He overpowered Zachary Holtmeyer (Owensville) and Ryan Steimel (Veritas Christian Academy) in technical falls. The junior also pinned Tayton Williams (Dexter) in 0:33 and Enric Carbonell Fuste (West Plains) in 0:16.
Brennan Birrer (17-8) went undefeated for a first-place finish. He trapped Simon Bruyette (Dexter) at 0:58, Connor Vogt (Owensville) at 3:16 and William Clarkson (St. Francis Borgia) at 5:38.
Three varsity boys finished as runners-up: Carter Blankenship (126), Austin Ray (150) and Brodyn Huebner (215).
Two Eagles landed third on the podium: Parker Montee (165) and Ethan Turner (175).
Lucas Hunter (157) finished fifth at the Owensville Invitational, while Tucker Fruewirth (285) took sixth.
