Eagles Wrestling Soars To Third At Conference
Sullivan shined with bronze in a conference tournament hosted by St. Clair on Jan. 14. The Eagles landed third with a score of 267, just shy of ten points from St. James.
Pacific won the meet with 334.5 points, St. Clair (215) finished fourth, Owensville (182.5) took fifth and Union (125.5) rounded out at sixth.
Sullivan had two conference champions: Camden Henderson (14-3) and Conner Roach (15-0), who went undefeated for the day.
Henderson (120) tallied 31.5 points and won his third consecutive championship. He dominated Cooper Cardoza (Owensville) in a 15-0 technical fall and Wyatt Webster (St. James) in a 1:45 takedown. The junior also won decisions over Brayden Milberg (Pacific) and Johnathan Declue (St. Clair).
Roach (132) maintained his perfect record and racked up a team-high 36 points. After four byes, the senior pinned Grant Kossuth (Pacific) in 0:47 for his second straight title.
Five Eagles took silver: Carter Blankenship (19-5), Eli Peregoy (19-1), Austin Ray (17-8), Ethan Turner (15-8) and Brennan Birrer (14-8).
Three Sullivan wrestlers finished fourth: Ollie Borton (10-11), Brodyn Huebner (4-9) and Tucker Fruewirth (4-5).
Two boys ranked fifth: Parker Montee (7-7) and Lucas Hunter (2-13).
