Eagles Walk Off Salem To Reach Title Game

After receiving a bye in the first round, the second-seeded Sullivan Eagles defeated Salem 4-3 on Monday in the Class 4 District 4 semifinal.

Lucas Parsons scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to snap a 3-3 tie.

Parsons doubled and came around to score.

He also earned the victory by throwing a scoreless top of the seventh.

The Eagles advanced to play Owensville in the championship game on Friday.

It was a back-and-forth affair, but the Eagles came out on top.

They played for the district title for the first time since 2015.

Sullivan trailed 2-0 after the first inning, but battled back with a three-run fourth inning.

Salem tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth.

The Eagles drew two walks and had four stolen bases. Dayton Skaggs, Tyler Hopen, and Gavin Schmidt each had a hit on the day.

Parsons, Cambrian Koch, and Drake Gawer were the pitchers for Sullivan.

The combined pitchers gave up six walks with eight strikeouts.

Koch pitched 3.1 innings. He gave up four hits, two runs, four walks and struck out four.

Gawer pitched 2.2 innings, striking out three, walking two and allowing a run.

Parsons hurled a perfect frame. He struck out one.
