Eagles Surge Past Knights In Round Two

The Sullivan Eagles seemed like a new team on Thursday. Sullivan reevaluated after their loss from previously in the week and were victorious over Farmington. This was Sullvan’s next game in the FCNB Bank-It tournament. Sullivan forced fourteen turnovers. The Eagles defeated Farmington by buzzer-beating layup by Gabe Dace. Sullivan won by two, 61-59.

In the first quarter, the Eagles took control right away. Chris Glaser scored the first three point basket of the game and Farmington’s Logan Schaupert answered right back with a layup. Sam Summers sailed a layup and Farmington answered back with a three point basket. Gabe Dace scored two free throws and Summers sailed another layup in. Aiden Kirk landed two layups before Head Coach Dino McKinney took a timeout with a little less than three on the clock. Drake Gawer sailed in a three point basket and Summers sent another in the hoop. Gavin Dace jammed a layup in the hoop and Sullivan led by two, 21-19.

In the second quarter, the battle continued. Schaupert made another layup and Glaser answered back with a basket of his own. Summers followed with a basket and drew the foul. Farmington’s Sam Woodson netted a layup before Summers netted another. Gavin Dace notched another layup and Kirk landed a three pointer basket before Summers landed another layup. Seth Valley added a free throw and Sullivan was up, 35-26.

In the third quarter, Sullivan held onto the lead. Summers and Gavin Dace blasted two baskets and Farmington took a timeout with a little less than seven minutes left. Farmington’s Max Lamonds sailed in a three point basket and Kirk answered back with one of his own. Gavin Dace nailed a layup off the glass and another one to give Sullivan the edge. Summers made the score, 48-36 and Gabe Dace added another layup before Coach McKinney took another timeout. Kirk netted another big three point basket and Sullivan led by ten, 53-43.

In the fourth quarter, Farmington posted a comeback. Farmington bridged the gap, but Gavin Dace jammed a layup. Summers scored one free throw and Kirk got the rebound on the missed free throw. Summers then landed a layup to keep Sullivan up by six. Kirk collected another rebound and dished the ball to Gavin Dace. Summers sailed a free throw in and Farmington was down by three. The Knights tied the game when Lamonds landed a three pointer. After four timeouts were called, Gabe Dace saved the game when he landed a layup at the buzzer. Sullivan won, 61-59.

Summers led in points with 20 and was followed by Kirk with 14. Gavin Dace made 12 points and his twin brother Gabe had six. Glaser tallied five points and Gawer had three. Valley had one point.

The Eagles had a total of 30 rebounds and Gavin Dace and Summers had the most with seven. Kirk followed with six and Gabe Dace had five. Glaser tallied three and Gawer and Cambrian Koch each had one.
