Eagles Split Three Away Games
Sullivan’s baseball team played three games last week, winning at Salem.
They dropped two Four Rivers Conference games against Owensville and St. Clair.
Owensville
Sullivan was defeated by the Dutchmen, 5-0. Lane Blankenship, Tyler Hopen, Jordan Rice, Gavin Schmidt, and Dayton Skaggs each got a hit on the day.
Trey Behrens was walked by Owensville, but Sullivan could not secure a run.
Drake Gawer was the starting pitcher who threw three innings. He gave up six runs and two earned runs.
He finished with four strikeouts and two walks.
Schmidt threw the last three innings and recorded four strikeouts.
Salem
The next night the Eagles traveled to Salem to defeat the Tigers, 2-1.
Sullivan squeezed past the Tigers behind standout pitching from Lucas Parsons.
Parsons pitched seven innings and recorded seven strikeouts. He allowed six hits and one run.
Blankenship and Schmidt were the lone Eagles who scored for the win.
Schmidt and Cambrian Koch both went 2-3 on the day.
Rice and Blankenship each had one hit. Rice tallied an RBI and Schmidt also recorded a stolen base.
St. Clair
Sullivan traveled on Wednesday to St. Clair. A lot of hits and runs were scored by both teams. The Eagles lost in a heartbreaking, 9-5.
The Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning, but Sullivan clawed back to take a 3-2 lead in the third.
St. Clair scored twice more in the home half of the inning and four in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead.
Sullivan added two more runs in the seventh.
