Eagles Soar Past 'Cats In Opener

With an explosive offensive attack, Sullivan got revenge against Cuba.

After Sullivan fell short to the Wildcats in their 2020 season opener, they showed they did not want a repeat.

The Eagles won 54-6 in a game that was called late in the third quarter to due to a power outage.

Sullivan scored on nearly every offensive drive. They had six touchdowns in the first half.

On their opening drive, they needed just two plays.

The Eagles marched down the field when Gabe Dace made a deep pass to Gavin Dace.

The Eagles scored on their next play when Jeremiah Rodriguez scored a touchdown at 10:51.

Rodriguez scored the two-point conversion to give Sullivan 8-0 lead.

Cuba then fired back, scoring a touchdown at 3:42. Sullivan blocked the extra point, making it 8-6.

The Eagles responded. They answered back when Ian King ran an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown at 3:29.

Alex Goly ran in the two-point conversion to give Sullivan a 16-6 lead.

After King and Goly made chain-moving plays, the Eagles scored another touchdown.

Rodriguez ran for 23 yards, scoring with 13.3 seconds left in the first quarter. The two-point conversion was good after Gabe Dace ran the ball in. It gave Sullivan a 24-6 lead.

Johnathan Martin recovered an onside kick to give the Eagles possession.

Sullivan didn’t stop in the second quarter.

Goly scored another Eagles touchdown at 10:24. Rodriguez converted the two-point run to make it 32-6.

Gabe Dace then fired a deep pass down the sideline to a wide-open to Aiden Kirk. Kirk stormed down the field, scoring on a 76-yard touchdown at 8:31. Rodriguez scored another two point conversion to give Sullivan a 40-6 lead.

Goly then scored on a 30-yard touchdown with 3:26 left in the second quarter. Goly ran in the two-point conversion. Sullivan was up 48-6.

With under a minute left in the half, the lights went out. Officials declared halftime.

The pause wasn’t enough to slow down Sullivan.

Goly scored again with 2:53 to play in the third quarter. Minutes later, the game was called due to another blackout.
