Eagles Soar Over Wildcats In 16-1 District Crushing
The Eagles (11-5) gave Cuba (1-14) no mercy in a 16-1 district sweep on Tuesday, Apr. 16. After finishing the game in the bottom of the 4th, the Eagles ranked third in their conference behind Pacific and Union.
In Sullivan’s post-game huddle, head coach Ian Whitson told his team to keep up the momentum so they could continue stacking themselves up with the Four Rivers leaders. He believes that in order to keep up with their success, they need to stay locked in at all times. “We’ve played a lot of innings here as of late. So for us, you know, one of the hardest things to do is [to] stay in it mentally,” he stated. “We’ve done a pretty good job of that as far as just again staying in each game and being ready to go, especially on the bench. You know, a lot of guys can go ahead and get checked out pretty early on if they’re not involved.”
Once the match ended, Whitson awarded Nolan Ulrich his first career Most Valuable Player belt. Ulrich brought in three RBIs, two hits and a run against the Wildcats. Whitson said, “[Ulrich] had a really good game there at the plate. So yeah, it’s nice to kind of see him come alive. And he’s one of those kids that we’re gonna need going down the stretch. So, you know, hats off to him.”
He also praised Mitchell Garner, who had another big game with three RBIs, two runs, two hits and a walk.
Landen Doza landed two runs, an RBI, a hit and a walk.
Kaden Smith and Dylan Parker both grabbed two runs and a hit.
Seth Valley tallied a run, an RBI, a hit and a walk.
Gavin Schmidt chalked up two hits, a run and an RBI.
Nate McReynolds and Chase Blue collected a run, a hit and an RBI.
Raiden Redd reeled in 2 RBIs and a hit.
Dayton Skaggs came away with a run and a hit.
Lucas Parsons collected a run and a walk.
Isaiah Skaggs ran home once.
Cambrian Koch drove in an RBI.
At bat, Sullivan tallied 14 RBIs, 14 hits and four walks with 25 at-bat appearances.
Parsons started on the mound for Sullivan in the first two innings. He executed four strikeouts while giving up four walks, an earned run and a hit.
Redd shut the door on the Wildcats, striking out one batter and allowing three hits.
