Eagles Open Season At Fleet Feet Classic

The Sullivan Eagles cross country teams opened their seasons on Tuesday at the Fleet Feet Classic in Arnold.

Emily Wilman started her senior season on a positive note by winning the two mile championship at the Arnold City Park. She crossed the line with a time of 12:06.40.

Overall there were 125 participants in the race.

Breanna Mayberry finished 73rd with a time of 14:26.30. Maria Schatzl took 120th with a time of 17:18.80. Melody Brauninger claimed 121st with a time of 17:19.10. Kennedy Medling was 192nd with a time of 21:31.70. Olivia Huitt finished in 193rd with a time of 21:32.30.

Eureka won the event with 69 points. Francis Howell took second (79), Seckman was third (98), Farmington finished fourth (124) and Lutheran South rounded out the top five (143).

Westminster Christian Academy was sixth(190), John Burroughs seventh(202), Nerinx Hall eighth (228) and Owensville ninth (231). Oakville finished off the top ten (247).

Boys

Sullivan’s boys took 14th and their best finisher was Aidan Kirk, who took 20th with a time of 10:45.80. Abram Denney got 32nd with a time of 10:56.80. Ian Studdard took 152nd with a time of 13:05.50. Elijah Pritchett claimed 160th with a time of 13:35.30. Nolan Studdard with a time of 14:11.30 finished 171st. Parker Whaley came in 180th with a time of 15:47.20. Javier Contreras was 182nd with a time of 16:47.60.

Overall, there were 184 runners in the boys varsity two mile race.

Hillsboro took first overall with 30 points. DeSmet Jesuit came in second (104), St. Charles was third (151), Central (Cape Girardeau) was fourth (203) and Eureka fifth (209).

Farmington came in sixth (214), John Burroughs seventh (240), Principia eighth (243), Webster Groves ninth (258) and Northwest (Cedar Hill) finished out the top ten (258).
