Eagles Fall To Pacific, Valley Park

Sullivan’s baseball team took a pair of losses against Pacific and Valley Park last week, losing 14-2 to the Indians and 5-3 to the Hawks.

Both games were made up rain outs from earlier in the season.

Pacific

The Indians took the early lead and didn’t look back. Sullivan tallied only two hits on the day, recorded by Trey Behrens and Gavin Schmidt. Pacific defeated the Eagles, 14-2.

Sullivan’s next at bat started with a battle by Jordan Rice. He kept fouling balls off until finally he was retired by a line drive caught by the second baseman.

Seth Valley was the next batter and he was the first Eagle to find himself on base after an error. He was left stranded on base.

Pacific scored another two runs and Whitson was forced to make another pitching change. Sullivan finished with Andrew Starr on the mound.

In the fifth inning, the scoring wasn’t done. The Indians scored another run and Sullivan had four errors by that point. Lane Blankenship landed on base and Seth Valley walked after Rice struck out.

Schmidt smacked a ball to the outfield and reached on a single that led Blankenship to score and Sullivan was on the board. Valley scored from third on a wild pitch and the Eagles added one more score to finish out the day.

Valley Park

The game started on a positive note when Sullivan got out of the first inning on a double play. The second inning was when the Hawks came alive. First, a batter was walked by Sullivan's starting pitcher, Lane Blankenship. The player after singled on a line drive. The two runners were then scored from the next batter. The Hawks scored once more and the score was 3-0. Valley Park added another run at their next at bat.

Sullivan answered back in the bottom of the third.

Jordan Rice was walked and Trevor Alexander came in as a courtesy runner. Cambrian Koch scored him and Sullivan was on the board, 4-1.

Whitson made a pitching change and brought in Schmidt at the top of the fifth.

The next half inning, Sullivan scored again. Rice was walked again and Valley Park made a pitching change directly after. Schmidt then scored an RBI and Sullivan secured another run, 4-2.

Tyler Hopen was the first Eagle to reach at their next at bat. Blankenship was walked and Lucas Parsons landed on first and loaded the bases. Rice then slammed a ball to the outfield and Sullivan was down by one.
