Potosi traveled to Sullivan on Monday and sent the Eagles to an 8-4 loss.

The Trojans bounced back from a 17-8 loss to Festus, while Sullivan was looking to keep their momentum from wins against St. James and Hermann.

Sullivan took the lead early when they scored in the first inning. Gavin Schmidt found the hole in the outfield and hit a leadoff double. Dayton Skaggs scored him in on a deep sacrifice fly.

The pitching and defense on both sides of the ball kept the score the same until the top of the third inning. Wyatt Knapp  got on base and Macklin Davis was walked right after. Blayne Nixon singled and a run came home. The score was tied 1-1 and the bases were loaded with only one out.

Potosi scored four runs and led 5-1 before the side was retired.

Sullivan tried to bridge the gap in the bottom of the fourth. Lucas Parsons got an out, but Skaggs got on base again. He advanced on a wild pitch, but Lane Blankenship struck out. Tyler Hopen singled and Cambrian Koch was walked to load the bases bases.

Trey Behrens launched a ball to the outfield and scored two runs to cut the deficit to 5-3. Behrens slid under the ball but was called out at second on a questionable call by the umpire.

Sullivan added another run to their score after they brought Koch to pitch for some relief for their starter, Parsons. Potosi added another three runs to their score and the final score was 8-4.

Both Sullivan pitchers gave up four runs each. Koch only gave up walk and had three strikeouts. Parsons had one strikeout and was the losing pitcher. Both Sullivan pitchers gave up four errors.

Behrens went 2-3 and had two RBIs on the day. Jordan Rice and Skaggs each had an RBI on the game. Schmidt went 1-4 with a double on the game. Hopen went 2-3 and had two runs. Skaggs and Schmidt were the other two runs.
