Eagles Cheer Participated In Three-Day NCA Camp

The Eagle cheerleaders gathered at Sullivan High School for an exciting three-day camp hosted by the National Cheer Association from July 20-22. It included training sessions for new stunts and techniques as well as a lock-in at the school. In the end, the cheerleaders left more united as a team and prepared for the upcoming season.

On Thursday, the NCA staff members taught the cheerleaders new formations and routines from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. They worked on it again on Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The team showed improvement in the techniques and the routines they had been working on continuously.

That night, the team hosted a lock-in at the high school. The coaches prepared pasta for dinner and had a whole buffet of desserts afterward. The cheerleaders enjoyed team bonding activities in the commons and made the most of their night.

Lights were out at 10 p.m. and the cheerleaders woke up early at 6 a.m. for their last day of camp. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., They continued to master the routines they had learned over the past two days.

The Eagles cheer team received awards from the NCA for their hard work given during the camp such as the NCA Technical Excellence Award. They were also given the Herkie Team Award for showing leadership, values, teamwork and sportsmanship. The cheerleaders lastly received the Stunt S.A.F.E. Award, given for terrific skills in spotting and stunt technique.

Individual awards were handed out as well. Ava Revelle was the All-American medalist.  The All-American nominees were Emma Hardy, Hailey Van Leer, Daveah McClain, Lucy Lewis, Ava Revelle, Alyssa Wilson, Zoey Stroup, Rory Carroll, Shayla Skaggs, Jocelyn Kopek, Kenedie Centunzi and Addison Wagner.

The NCA cheer camp was a bonding experience that brought the Eagles cheer team together to work on new techniques and for a fun lock-in. They are more pumped than ever to be the face of Eagle spirit in the upcoming football season and take their skills to competitions.
