Dudley And Purvis Tee Off At State Tournament

Sophomore Carsen Dudley and junior Easton Purvis took swings at the Class 3 State Tournament hosted at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield from May 13-14.

Dudley tied for 69th place with a total score of 174, shooting a 92 on the first day and an 82 on the second. Purvis tied for 72nd, tallying 175 over both days, with scores of 86 in the first round and 89 in the second.

Dudley said that being “focused on [his] swing and having good contact” helped him earn a spot at state, as well as head coach Dino McKinney, who supported him throughout. “The person I would like to thank for helping me this season is Coach McKinney, because he would always be there for me when I had my head down, and he was really fun to be around,” he explained.

Dudley also reminisced about memories this season that he will be able to go back and laugh about. He stated, “Some of my favorite memories are when we were at districts, and we went to Steak and Shake, and it started pouring down raining, and Easton fell so hard; it was so funny.”
