Denneys First Brother/Sister Duo To Win Four Rivers Conference Titles

Siblings Abram and Mariah Denney finished in first at the Four Rivers Conference meet in Owensville on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

They are the first brother/sister duo to win conference titles in Four Rivers history and were selected to 1st Team All-Conference. Overall, the Denneys have had an incredible season so far and have ranked at the top in many tournaments.

Head coach Terry Wood is happy with being able to lead the Denneys to success, saying that, “They both have such a clinical approach to racing and training that they each make me proud. I’ve studied the sport for as long as I have and [they] push me to continue to learn more. I’m grateful for the chance to continually prove my mettle and knowledge of the sport. They’re certainly a joy to work with and for.”

Two Sullivan runners earned All-Conference Honorable Mentions: freshman Eden Lambert, who came in 15th place and junior Zechariah Beagle, who placed 13th.

Boys

Junior Abram Denney finished 1st with a time of 17:22.02, junior Beagle placed 13th at 18:57.22 and with 13 points, freshman Ayden Duncan (32) made his way to 35th at 20:33.22, senior Ian Studdard (35) finished 39th at 21:18.23, sophomore Nolan Studdard (38) ranked 42nd at 23:09.81 and senior Parker Whaley (40) rounded out the list at 45th with a time of 24:37.44.

There were 45 overall runners. Sullivan came in 5th place out of 6 teams with an average time of 20:16 and 119 points.

St. Clair claimed the top spot with 58 points, followed by Owensville with 64, Pacific (69) in 3rd place, Hermann (71) in 4th and Union (120) finishing last.

Girls

Freshman Mariah Denney secured the top spot with a time of 19:24.73, freshman Lambert followed her in 15th place at 23:20.24 with 13 points, senior Breanna Mayberry (14) placed 16th at 23:29.74, senior Jade Studdard (21) made 25th at 25:16.10, senior Maria Schatzl (30) finished 34th at 27:21.40 and senior Alexandra McLain-Williams (32) rounded out the list in 37th place with a time of 31:49.10.

There were 38 overall participants. Sullivan finished 4th out of 6 teams with 79 points and an average time of 23:46.

Union ranked the highest with 61 points, followed by Hermann (66) in 2nd place, Owensville (73) in 3rd, St. Clair (90) in 5th and Pacific (110) in last.

Upcoming Events

The Class 4 District 2 tournament will be held at Nixa on Saturday, Oct. 28, while the state competition will take place at Gans Creek in Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 4.
