Cross Country Races Top Midwest Runners At Missouri Southern Stampede

Sullivan’s cross country team ran at the Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin over the weekend, facing top Midwest runners from four states.

In the girls’ division, they secured 32nd place out of 33 teams, with 270 participants. Freshman Mariah Denney led with a 27th-place finish at 19:31.13, freshman Eden Lambert was 198th at 22:48.46 and junior Melody Brauninger placed 262nd at 26:38.38. Seniors Jade Studdard made 267th at 29:15.48, Maria Schatzl finished 268th place at 29:22.81, Peyton Evans got 269th with 31:27.94 and Alexandra McLain-Williams was 270th with 32:41.52.

Boys

Sullivan finished 40th out of 41 teams, earning 1147 points among 343 runners.

Junior Abram Denney led, claiming 100th place with a time of 16:55.17. Sophomore Nolan Studdard followed at 306th with 19:55.91, senior Ian Studdard secured 321st at 20:38.07 and sophomore Elijah Pritchett was closely behind at 322nd with 20:40.59. Freshman Ayden Duncan finished 327th at 21:06.84, senior Parker Whaley was 329th at 21:17.19, freshman Sam Simmington 330th at 21:20.22 and junior William Hunter wrapped up the team’s performance in 339th place with a time of 22:51.83.
