Cross Country Places High At Sullivan Invitational

The Sullivan Invitational took place on Tuesday, Sep. 7, where Abram and Mariah Denney both finished first places in the 5000-meter runs.

Girls

Freshman Mariah Denney led the girls’ race with a time of 20:55.20. Freshman Eden Lambert finished 6th, completing the race in 25:02.60. Senior Breanna Mayberry crossed the finish line in 25:07.05, securing 7th place. Junior Melody Brauninger finished 15th with a time of 27:07.99, senior Jade Studdard claimed 17th place with a time of 28:30.95, senior Peyton Evans came in 26th with a time of 36:01.10 and senior Alexandra McLain-Williams finished 27th in 37:56.94.

In total, there were 29 participants in the race. Sullivan finished in first place with 25 points, followed by St. Clair in 2nd place with 30 points.

Boys

Junior Abram Denney took 1st place with a time of 18:03.90. Freshman Ayden Duncan finished 23rd with a time of 22:31.87, followed closely by Senior Ian Studdard in 25th place with a time of 22:41.92. Sophomore Nolan Studdard secured 30th place with a time of 23:29.47. Sophomore Elijah Pritchett finished 35th with a time of 23:50.82, senior Parker Whaley claimed 37th place in 24:06.43, freshman Sam Simmington placed 38th with a time of 24:10.14 and junior William Hunter finished 46th with a time of 26:11.52.

In this race, there were 59 runners. St. Clair took the top spot with 28 points, followed by Lutheran South in second place with 41 points and Sullivan finished in third place with 71 points.
