Boys Wrestling Runs The Table At Tri-Meet

Sullivan (6-2) beat the brakes off of the Spartans and Warriors in a tri-meet on Friday, Dec. 13. They crushed Moberly 36-24 and the host St. Charles West 45-16. The Spartans beat the Warriors 47-33 to place second at the tri-meet.

The Spartans drew first blood with a forfeited victory for a 6-0 lead. 

The Eagles fired back with 21 unanswered points. Camden Henderson (120) led the charge with a 1:59 pin over Kaiden Leonard (Mob.). Carter Blankenship (126) took down Ambrose Teel (Mob.) in 1:17, Brayden Kisner (138) locked up Joel Black (Mob.) in 0:51 and Eli Peregoy (144) overcame Carson Roark (Mob.) in a 10-3 decision.

The Spartans cut their deficit to three points with pins over Austin Ray (150) and Nathan Garcia (165).

Brennan Birrer (190) held off Moberly’s rally by winning a 10-7 decision over Landon Smith (Mob.). Jaxson Blankenship (215) then wrapped up Kemper Powell (Mob.) at 2:33, and Ian Henderson (106) brought down Carter Duncan (Mob.) at 1:07. 

The Ethan Turner (175) and Ethan Davis (Mob.) clash results were unavailable at press time. 

Sullivan 45, St. Charles West 18

The Eagles came in hot with 18 unanswered points. Ian Henderson (106) swiftly pinned Justin Blassingame (SCW) in 0:19, Camden Henderson (120) locked up Yoni Tran (SCW) in 0:59 and Carter Blankenship (126) took down Aaden Brinkman (SCW) in 1:00.

After Brayden Kisner (132) lost his match, Eli Peregoy (138) put Sullivan back on the board with a 9-6 sudden victory over Beckett Anderson (SCW).

Austin Ray (150) continued Sullivan’s streak with a 1:10 pin over Keegan Maness (SCW).

The Warriors cut their deficit to nine points with a forfeited win and a 1:14 fall over Nathan Garcia (165).

The Eagles sealed their victory in the following three rounds. Ethan Turner (175) wrapped up Jacob Gurley (SCW) in 3:16, Brennan Birrer (190) brought down Jackson Besselman (SCW) in 4:24 and Jaxson Blankenship (215) contained Xavyer Kelly (SCW) in 1:26.
