Boys Wrestling Completes Hat Trick Of 100 Wins
The Eagles dueled five teams in Mexico’s squared circle on Saturday, Feb. 1.
Sullivan won three of their matches, beating the brakes off Boonville 63-12, Monett 53-21 and North Callaway 43-34. They came up short against Father Tolton Regional Catholic (42-37) and the hosting Bulldogs (42-40).
The Eagles also had three senior wrestlers who eclipsed 100 wins: Eli Peregoy (31-2), Conner Roach (29-0) and Carter Blankenship (26-9).
Peregoy (138) was victorious in four of his five bouts, racking up 17 points. He beat Solomon Flippin (Boonville) and Martin Harrison (Father Tolton) in decisions, then crushed Chris Spears (Monett) and Kyle Lewis (Mexico) in technical falls.
Roach (132) went undefeated for 29 points in Mexico. He pinned Kade Adams (Monett) in 1:17, took down Watson Azdell (Mexico) in 2:35 and dominated Gabriel Lopez Cardenas (Father Tolton) in a technical fall. The senior also seized two wins by forfeit.
Blankenship (126) raised his hand four times after his wins last Saturday. He tallied 24 points with three forfeits and a 2:57 fall over Brayden Arnold (Mexico).
Camden Henderson (120) was unstoppable in Mexico with 29 points. He first beat Gabe Gander (Boonville) in a technical fall, then trapped Charlie Ruether (Father Tolton) in 3:09 and Dante Ungeni (Monett) in 1:10. The junior continued his run by winning a forfeit and pinning Logan Hilderman (Mexico) in 3:27.
Ian Henderson (106) went 4-1 and collected 23 points at the duals. He took down Athan Briggs (Father Tolton) in a technical fall and Dyson Cutbirth (Monett) in a 1:18 pin. The freshman also won two of his rounds by forfeit.
Austin Ray (150) shined with three victories and 18 points. He won his first round by forfeit, then wrapped up Wyatt Reed (Monett) in 1:23 and Christian Moore (North Callaway) in 3:07.
Ethan Turner (175) earned 18 points by winning a 1:18 fall over John Weirich (Father Tolton), a 12-8 decision over Benjamin Haubner (North Callaway) and a forfeit.
Oliver Borton (144) won his final three matches on Saturday. He stacked up 17 points, shutting down Ben Tate (Monett) in 1:35, Cooper Safranski (North Callaway) in 0:26 and Israel Hernandez-Jarquin (Mexico) in a technical fall.
Brodyn Huebner (215) collected 16 points from two forfeits and a 10-0 major decision over Justice Moore (North Callaway).
Brennan Birrer (190) brought in twelve points, trapping Kaleb Farris (Monett) in 4:43 and Jerian Evans (Mexico) in 1:31.
Lucas Hunter (157) pinned 12 points on the mats. He scored six on a forfeit first and then locked up Linton Laitak (Monett) in 1:07.
Parker Montee (165) scored 12 points with a forfeit and a 2:57 pin over Hunter Love (Mexico).
Tucker Fruewirth (285) tallied eleven points with a forfeit and a 3:40 pin over Archer Cavanaugh (Father Tolton).
