Boys Soccer Tackles Comets And Wildcats

The Eagles (2-6) battled the Fatima Comets (4-1) and Union Wildcats (4-3) tooth-and-nail during week three.

Fatima

The Comets shut out Sullivan with two scores on Tuesday, Sept. 17. They dropped their final match of a six-game road trip.

Luke Herron led the Eagles with four shots, while Zechariah Beagle fired three and Carsen Dudley attempted two.

Mason Mertz, Kaden Smith and Ben Tanner each made one attempt at the net.

Alex Toews recorded four saves as goalkeeper for Sullivan.

Union

Two days later, the Eagles fell 3-1 to Union despite hoping to pick up their first conference win.

The Wildcats set the tone with their first score just five minutes in.

The Eagles locked down both sides of the field to set Dudley up for the response. Herron cut through the right and sent the ball over to Dudley, who made Sullivan’s only score.

Union snatched two more goals before the night ended but struggled against Toews at the net. He set a career-high 18 saves and came in clutch on many occasions, including a one-handed grab.
