Boys Soccer Seizes 2-0 Victory Against Lebanon
Boys soccer came alive in the second half to secure a 2-0 victory against Lebanon, ending their four-game week on a positive note with a 3-5 record.
After suffering three consecutive losses and seeking redemption, the Eagles were more determined than ever to beat the Yellowjackets.
The first half of the game remained scoreless, with Sullivan putting forth a strong defensive effort but struggling to maintain possession.
At halftime, head coach Brian Immekus gave his team advice to stop sending the ball down the field and play more ground ball.
The second half kicked off with the Eagles immediately taking control. Cambrian Koch made Sullivan’s first goal by shooting high into the net.
Immekus attributed this score to the halftime adjustments they made, claiming, “[It] was scored off of a great crossing pass from Beagle that was able to stay low on the ground and find Koch’s foot. He was able to get a clean shot off and score the goal.”
Luke Herron made the next score after a couple of attempts, extending Sullivan’s lead to 2-0. He also racked up a shot and 2 points.
Koch had 2 shots, 2 points and a goal. Both Zechariah Beagle and Mason Mertz collected a shot, assist and point. Kaden Smith made 2 shots while Eli Peregoy had one.
Goalkeeper Alex Toews was awarded the Man of the Match title by Immekus for his incredible performance all week. In this game, he made 8 saves.
Immekus is hoping their win against Lebanon will help them ahead, saying, “We have Wright City on the road and Laquey at home and both of those teams handled us pretty well last year. Those are two opportunities early in the week to show that we have improved and hopefully put up two strong, competitive efforts.”
