Addison Purvis Joins Kansas Jayhawks

Sullivan High School alumni Addison Purvis joined the Kansas Jayhawks softball team this week.

She transferred from the Mississippi State Bulldogs where she had a stellar career.

In 2022, her sophomore year, she made 57 appearances and made 26 starts. She had a staggering .297 batting average with four doubles, three home runs, and 15 RBIs.

Purvis was named SEC Co-Player of the Week in March. She batted a .750 from three starts of that week, blasting a multi-home run game and going 2 for 2 in the same.

Her freshman year, she made 27 appearances and hit a .244. She recorded two doubles and six RBIs.

Purvis will begin her junior year as a Kansas Jayhawk. She was a first baseman, designated player, and right fielder while at Mississippi State.

Purvis was a standout player for Sullivan High School. She was selected to STLToday’s Missouri All-Decade Second Team. The Lady Eagles won district championships all four years she played, and Purvis was named the CFR Player of the Year her final three seasons. She was also named first team all-state, all-conference, all-district, and all-region all four years of high school.

In her four seasons, she led the Lady Eagles to two Class 3 second place finishes and one third place finish.

Purvis excelled with a .690 on-base percentage and 1.151 slugging average in her high school career. She blasted 36 homers, 53 doubles, eight triples and nailed 163 RBIs. Purvis was also a threat on the mound. She hurled 525 innings with an ERA of 1.61. She recorded 845 strikeouts.

Purvis also won the USSSA National Championship in 2017 with her travel softball team, Top Gun Fastpitch.

She is expected to be an asset to the Jayhawks.
