William W. Bartle
William “Bill” Bartle, age 82, of Sullivan, MO passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
William Warren Bartle was born July 11, 1940 in Union, MO to Paul and Mary Jo (Aborn) Bartle. He grew up and attended school in St. Clair, graduating from St. Clair High School in 1959 then went on to work as an electrician for McDonnell Douglas until his retirement. He was a 55 year member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Lodge #837A. Bill married the love of his life, Sheila Benetin on February 4, 1969 at Villa Ridge and to this union four children were born: James, Maryanna, Matthew & Joanna.
Bill loved the simple things in life. He was a conservationist at heart and especially loved the outdoors, watching birds, and just being in nature. Among his many interests Bill was fond of fishing, gardening and both watching old western movies and reading books by Louis L’Amour or John Grisham. Bill was an avid, lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fans. He also enjoyed photography and treasured time spent with his family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Sheila; four children: James and wife, Stephanie Bartle of Sullivan, MO, Maryanna and husband, Larry Hamrick of St. James, MO, Matthew Bartle of Bourbon, MO, and Joanna and husband, Russell Watring of Sullivan, MO; sixteen grandchildren: BJ and wife, Aimee Bartle, Kyle and wife, Megan Weiskopf, Emilee and husband, Zack Carthy, Sophia & Ella Mae Bartle, Josephine Woodruff, Shawn Woodruff, Kenneth and wife, Rylee Hamrick, Elizabeth Dothage, Grayson Bartle, Gracie and husband, Tyler Henderson, and William Watring; eight great-grandchildren: Lyla Bartle, Tucker & Karsyn Weiskopf, Reid & Carlee Carthy, Isabella & Lucinda Woodruff, and Magnolia Hamrick; two brothers, Michael Bartle and wife, Debra and Steven Bartle and wife, Suzanne all of Bourbon, MO; four sisters-in-law: Ann Benetin of Robertsville, MO, Beverly Dodson and husband, Ed of Union, MO, Judith Bishop of Sullivan, MO and Anna Marie Donner and husband Daniel of Union, MO; one brother-in-law, Andrew Benetin of Gray Summit, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mary Jo Bartle; parents-in-law, James and Beverly Benetin; two brothers, Richard and Charles Bartle; an infant sister, Baby Girl Bartle, and a brother-in-law, Garry Benetin.
Cremation arrangements have taken place. Private graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, near Villa Ridge, MO at a later date.
