William Leverette “Billy” Woods, Jr., 79, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.

Billy was born in Sullivan, MO, on March 4, 1943, to William Leverette Woods, Sr. and Margaret (Fife) Woods. Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army. Following his time in the service, he went to work for Pea Ridge Mines before their closure. He then moved to Idaho, where he worked for Sunshine Mine in Wallace, Idaho. After a mining accident in 1980, Bill decided to move closer to Missouri. After some time, he then moved to Tulsa, OK, where he drove a pilot car for large hauling trucks for many years. Bill had recently moved back to Sullivan to be cared for by his sister, Ann.

Billy is survived by his three sisters: Margaret Ann Lambing-Reed and husband Jim of Sullivan, MO, Karon Sue McGinnis of Apache Junction, AZ and Sharon Kay Miller of Apache Junction, AZ; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his companion, Donald Riesse; his father and stepmother, Leverette and Pearl Woods; and his mother, Margaret Fife.

Memorial Services was held at 12 p.m., on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor Scott Perry officiating.

Visitation was held from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
