William “Bill” A. Schmidt, 79, of Sullivan, MO passed away Saturday, November 26, 2022.

William was born on July 25, 1943 in St. Louis, MO to Edwin and Ruth (Caudle) Schmidt, Sr. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict from 1964-1967. Bill was employed by Chevrolet Auto Plant, building Corvette’s for thirty years. He was united in marriage to Rose (Isgriggs) Webb on June 2, 1995 and they enjoyed 27 years together. Bill was an avid golfer, loved Cardinals Baseball and watching old westerns. He treasured spending time with his family and enjoyed gathering for different occasions, especially BBQ’s. Bill always enjoyed traveling with his wife Rose, who sadly preceded him in death in September 2022. He loved his family very much and will be missed by all who knew him.

Bill is survived by special nieces and nephews: Ruth Birkemeier, Stephen Schmidt, Sr., Mary Schmidt, Gregory Schmidt, Sr., Vicki Main, Todd Schmidt, Jean Schmidt, and George Schmidt, Jr.; seventeen great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by his children: Gary Gargus and wife Danica of Manchester, MO, Marty Politte and significant other Sue Pouge of Bourbon, MO, Patti Carey and husband Alan of Sullivan, MO, and Becky Webb of Cuba, MO; fourteen grandchildren: Heather Mallinckrodt and husband Brandon, Brandon Gargus and wife Emily, Tammy Humphrey and husband Barry, Angie Bartle and husband Cory, Rachel Thomure and husband Nick, Amanda Mullen and husband Don, Taylor Politte and wife Victoria, Tarah Barton and husband Guy, Shane Carey and wife Kathryn, Alex Carey and wife Ashley, D.J. Dace and wife Taylor, Nathan Dace, Joshua Dace, and Michael Solorio; a host of great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Bill Isgriggs and wife Shirley; numerous other nieces and nephews from Rose’s family, along with many other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose (Isgriggs) Schmidt; a daughter, Susan Politte; his parents, Edwin Sr. and Ruth Schmidt; three brothers: Edwin Schmidt Jr., Lawrence Schmidt, and George Schmidt; and one nephew, Mark Schmidt.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, December 5, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Interment will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

Visitation will be 9:00AM – 10:30AM, Monday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
