William “Bill” James Valley passed away on March 3, 2021, thirteen days short of his seventieth birthday. Most recently a resident of Amarillo, Texas, but formerly of the Sullivan, MO area.

Bill was born to Joseph George and Sophie Martha (Boyer) Valley. Bill was baptized in the Catholic religion at Holy Martyrs of Japan church.

Bill started his schooling at Holy Martyrs, then on to Spring Bluff, and finishing his education at Sullivan High School.

As a young man, Bill enjoyed working with area farmers by putting up hay and working the fields. When the work was done, he couldn’t wait to go swimming with his brothers and friends in the Bourbeuse River out at Champion City.

In later years, he moved to Amarillo, Texas and married Lucille, while working for Bekins Transfer and Storage Trucking Company. After forty years of employment there, his ill health forced him to retire.

Bill saved all of his vacation time for home visits with his mom, and to be with his brother, George, fishing and deer hunting. Hanging out with his best friend, Ray bacon, was also a must.

Bill will be sadly missed by his relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George and Sophie Valley; two brothers; two sisters; his grandparents; and two nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Graveside Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Holy Martyrs Cemetery. Bill will be laid to rest on his mother’s grave.
