Vera West

Vera Ray West, 78, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021 at her home.

Vera Louise was born August 14, 1942 in Bourbon, MO, to Oliver Lee and Helen Louise Beatrice (Isgriggs) Pennock. She attended and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1961. Vera was united in marriage to William Ray on March 12, 1961. They were blessed with two children, Shauna and Brent, and many wonderful years together before his passing.

Vera was later married to Don West on May 21, 2006. He also preceded her in death in 2020. Vera was a homemaker and family caregiver. She was very talented in the home, arranging flowers and cooking wonderful meals. In her free time, Vera enjoyed reading and spending time with her sisters and family. Foremost, Vera was a good Christian lady, always sharing her faith with others. She was a longtime member of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Leasburg, MO.

Vera is survived by her children: Shauna Ramshaw and husband, Mike, of St. Peters, MO, and Brent Ray and wife, Joan, of Wildwood, MO; seven grandchildren: Ashley Schuck and husband, Craig, Aaron and Andrew Ramshaw, Alison Witty and husband, Sterling, Alex Ramshaw and wife, Rachel, Tasha Gehling and husband, Tyler, and Brandon Ray; three great-grandchildren: Noah and Charlie Ramshaw and Roman Schuck; four siblings: Georgia Buff of Bourbon, MO, Rhonda Armstrong of Bourbon, MO, Brenda Dotson of Sullivan, MO, and Michael Pennock of Bourbon, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, William Ray; her second husband, Don West; her parents, Oliver and Helen Pennock; and two brothers, Kenneth and Mark Pennock.

Funeral services were 11 a.m., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Leasburg, MO, with Pastor Lane Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Roads Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, May 14, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Leasburg.
