Vera L. Tice

Vera L. Tice, 95, of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Sullivan, MO passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Vera was born on April 18, 1927 in Bourbon, MO to Dr. Roy P. Royse and Bernice M. (Welker) Royse. Her mother passed away when she was just four years old. Vera grew up in Sullivan, where she attended and graduated from Sullivan High, class of 1945.

During her high school years, she served as class secretary.

As a young lady, Vera was employed by the former W.H. Powell Lumber Company and International Shoe Company. She went on to attend business school in St. Louis to further her education. On August 3, 1946, Vera was united in marriage to Herbert “Wayne” Tice who was serving his country at the time. The newlyweds made their first home in Kentucky and Vera worked on base. After Wayne’s military service ended, the couple returned to Sullivan where Wayne went to work for Tucker Motor and Vera was a wonderful homemaker. In 1951, they moved to the state of Indiana where they remained until their retirement in 1995. At this time, they made the move to Zephyrhills, Florida to be near their son, Ronald, and make their final home. Vera enjoyed crafts, painting, and spending time with her family.

Vera is survived by her son, Ronald Tice and wife Beth of North Fort Myers, FL; three grandchildren: Rob Tice and wife Sarah Hunt of Millinocket, ME, Heather Tice Hodson of Fort Meyers, FL, and Rebecca Rodriguez and husband Anthony of Cape Coral, FL; four great-grandchildren: Kaydence & Wyatt Hodson and Roman & Rilynn Rodriguez; a half-sister, Karen Dorn and husband Larry of Bermuda Dunes, CA; a sister-in-law, Lois Tice of Strafford, MO; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; a daughter in infancy, Sandra Lee; her parents, Dr. Roy and Bernice Royse; a brother, Kenneth Royse; a brother-in-law, James Tice; and a grandson-in-law, Jason Hodson.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Interment followed in Crow Cemetery, Sullivan, MO.

Visitation was held from 12 to 1:30 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
