Velma Jean Boyer, 78, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family.

Velma Jean was born in Pea Ridge, MO, on December 1, 1943, to the late William Calvin and Eunice Eric “Opal” (Milburn) Bridgeman. She lived most of her life in the Pea Ridge area, where she raised her large family. Velma was a long-time member of Pea Ridge Pentecostal Church. She was a dedicated Christian and always took her family to God’s house. Velma was united in marriage to Andrew Thomas Boyer, Sr. on February 13, 1982 in Potosi, MO. They were blessed with 36 years of marriage before Andy’s passing in 2018. Velma was employed by various restaurants in the area before becoming a stay-at-home mom and grandma, “raising a heaping pile of children”. She loved them all and always had room for one more.

In her free time, Velma went to yard sales, auctions, flea markets and goodwill shopping. She enjoyed going on road trips, vacations to the beach on Dauphin Island and lunching at Du Kum Inn with family and friends. Velma loved to watch the Young and the Restless and spend time with the grandkids.

Velma is survived by her children: Pam Osick and husband John, Amanda Plank, Billie Jean Garner and husband Jeremy, Steven Maune, Cody Maune and wife Kaylin, all of Sullivan, MO and Miles Plank of Cuba, MO; her step-children: Leo Boyer and wife Misty of Cuba, MO, Andy Boyer, Jr. of St. James, MO, Angela Barton and husband Jason of Bourbon, MO, Jesse Boyer and wife Jennette of Kokomo, IN and James Boyer of Leasburg, MO; thirty-four grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; ten extra special grandchildren: Tabatha Wehmeyer and husband Joshua, Margaret Garner, Kaylie Wehmeyer, Nicholas Garner, Joshua Wehmeyer, Jr., Andrew Garner, Spencer Desmond, Tristan Maune and Liam Garner, all of Sullivan, MO; siblings: Imogene Brown of Geneseo, IL, Helen Blakey, Roy Bridgeman and wife Linda, all of Sullivan, MO and Leo Boyer, Jr. and wife Sharon of Union, MO; special best friend, Clara Lamkie, whom she loved like a sister; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Andrew Boyer, Sr.; one son in infancy; one grandson, T.J. Barton; her parents, William and Opal Bridgeman; one brother, Jesse Bridgeman; three sisters: Marie Mercer, Joyce Clonts, and Laura Jane Studdard; and her stepson, Charles Boyer.

Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Pastor John Ripley officiating. Interment will follow in Reedville Cemetery - Sullivan.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
