Tyrone David Klages, 82, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Tyrone was born on January 25, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, to Leo James and Gladys (Kennedy) Klages. He grew up and attended Bayless High School and went to work at a local grocery store at an early age. Tyrone was united in marriage to Lenda DeGeare on October 4, 1958 and to their union they had one daughter, Dawn.

Tyrone enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 15, 1957 and served his country until he was honorably discharged on June 14, 1963. He also worked on the interstate project after the “new deal” was structured and eventually went to work as a mechanic for the remainder of his working days. He was a very gifted mechanic and really enjoyed that type of work.

As a young boy, Tyrone had attended Camp Mahaska in Bourbon, MO. He fell in love with the area and had always desired to move there one day. In 1979, that desire was fulfilled, when he and his family, including some of his extended family, made the move to Bourbon. Tyrone worked for Cassens Transport until he retired at age 57. Sadly, his wife Lenda passed away in 2005. Tyrone then moved to Osage Beach to be near family, prior to moving back to Sullivan.

Tyrone loved softball, horseshoes, lawn darts, and hunting and fishing with his brother-in-law, Freddie. Tyrone will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family.

Tyrone is survived by his daughter, Dawn Klages and significant other, Anthony Young, of Sullivan, MO; two grandchildren, Jesse England of Springfield, MO, and Andrew Young of Osage Beach, MO; one sister, Kathy Shockley of Cuba, MO; one sister-in-law, Jill White and husband, Jerry, of Bourbon, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, other extended relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lenda; one granddaughter, Melissa Lindsey; his parents, Leo and Gladys Klages; one sister, Sharon Smith and her husband, Freddie; and one sister-in-law, Gayle Morse.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. Private graveside services are being planned.

Memorial contributions in Tyrone’s memory may be made to the family to help with final expenses.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
