Terence E. “Terry” Troughton, 80, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully, at his home, Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021.

Terence Eugene Troughton was born April 3, 1940, in Pekin, IL, the only child of Howard and Malinda (Schuttler) Troughton. He loved the outdoors and started fishing and camping at age six. Terry graduated from Pekin High School in Pekin, IL, in 1958. He went on to Bradley University, on a tennis scholarship, and earned degrees in biology and mathematics. Terry’s early work involved tracking migratory bird patterns in a radar truck along the Mississippi Delta.

Terry was united in marriage to Judith Ann Henry on Dec. 17, 1960, in Chicago, IL. To their union three children were born: Todd, Holly and Jayson. The family lived in several states in the Midwest, eventually landing in Sullivan in 1988, where they built their dream home in the woods. Terry was most proud of his last position: starting up the Missouri master Naturalist program for Franklin, Crawford, Gasconade and Washington Counties.

Terry is survived by his wife, Judy, of Sullivan; three children: Todd Troughton, Holly Harris and Jayson Troughton; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Malinda Troughton.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. No services are planned at this time.

Friends may send online condolences to Terry’s family at www.eatonfuneralhome.com.

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Sullivan.
