Sylvia Larson

Sylvia Larson longtime resident of Stanton, MO passed away Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the age of 67 years.

Sylvia was born on October 1, 1955 to Allen and Neva (Henry) Jensen and grew up on the family farm near Courtland, Kansas with sisters, Linda, Debbi, Nancy and brother Gary. She was introduced to a sailor named Richard Larson from Scandia, Kansas and on May 31, 1973 they were married creating a union that would last a lifetime. Richard preceded her in death in April 2012. Richard and Sylvia had a daughter, Lauri and son Daniel. Lauri and Scooter Woodruff had one son, Jason Woodruff.

Sylvia was born with a green thumb and loved gardening, chickens observing nature and traveling. She also enjoyed camping and would continue to do so her entire life. Having moved several times when Richard gained promotions at his job at the Union Pacific Railroad until settling outside Stanton, MO in late 1984, and remained there until her death.

As a member of Al-Anon for over 30 years, Sylvia touched many lives and families with her outreach and service.

Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Lauri Woodruff; son, Daniel Larson of Stanton, MO; grandson, Jason Woodruff of Freeburg, MO; sisters, Linda Estes of Kansas, Debbi Swank of Sacramento, CA; brother, Gary Jensen of Courtland, KS; other relatives and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Richard; her parents, Allen and Neva Jensen; and one sister, Nancy Gile.

Cremation services have taken place.

A Memorial Graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Friday, May 27, 2022 at Stanton Cemetery with Pastor Josh Wright officiating.
