Shirley Stringer
Shirley LaVon Stringer, 73, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
Shirley was born on December 16, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri, to Arthur Walker and Alice Hartshorn. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis. Shirley was united in marriage to Jeffery Stringer on June 2, 1962 and they were blessed with five children: Ralph, Sherrie, Billy, Alicia and Krystal. Shirley and Jeffery had recently celebrated 59 years of marriage together. Shirley was a good Christian woman. She enjoyed reading her Bible, as well as Amish fiction books, and working with her plants and flowers. The loves of her life were her grandbabies, whom she adored and lovingly cared for. Shirley also lovingly cared for her husband for many years. They had most recently made their home in Sullivan for the past couple of years. Shirley will be missed dearly by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Jeffery Stringer of Sullivan, MO; four of her children: Ralph Stringer of Poplar Bluff, MO, Sherrie Graham and husband Russell of Billings, MO, Billy Stringer and husband Bradley Stinson of Fort Wayne, IN, and Krystal Velascoe and husband David of Sullivan, MO; six grandchildren: Ashley Wright, Murissia Graham, Johnny, Michael, Zach and Natasha Ryan; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Karen Hambelton of St. Charles, MO; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alicia Ryan; one grandson, Christopher Stringer; her parents, Arthur Walker and Alice Hartshorn; two brothers, Donald and John Walker; and one sister, Kathy Walker.
Cremation arrangements have taken place. A memorial service for Shirley was held from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2021 at her daughter Krystal’s home – 1291 Elmont Rd, Sullivan, MO 63080.
