Scott M. McCarthy,

Scott M. McCarthy, age 61 of Cuba, Missouri passed away at his home on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Scott Michael McCarthy was born on February 24, 1962, in St. Louis, MO to John and Gloria (Kinner) McCarthy. Scott grew up and attended school in St. Louis, graduating in the Chaminade High School class of 1980.  

After high school, Scott furthered his education at SEMO, while working as a radio host for KRCU where he was better known as “Scott Roberts”.  

Scott remained in Cape Girardeau for some time before returning to St. Louis where he continued working various jobs. He later moved to Peoria, IL, where he made his final home.  Scott loved to ride motorcycles and enjoyed traveling to the Great River Road and mountains out West. While traveling Scott made sure to experience different cuisines at each destination. 

Scott was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved visiting different baseball stadiums, nearly visiting everyone on both coasts. Scott enjoyed listening to music, especially his favorite bands: The Grateful Dead, Little Feet, POCO, anything southern rock and even playing the guitar and mandolin himself.

Above all, Scott cherished time spent with his family and friends.

Scott is survived by his parents, John and Gloria McCarthy of Osage Beach, MO; a brother, Brian McCarthy of Cuba, MO; a sister, Margo Hathaway and husband, Jeff of St. Louis, MO; four nephews: John McCarthy, Michael Hathaway and wife Cassie, Jordan Hathaway and life partner, Julia, and Jack Hathaway; other relatives and many friends.

Arrangements for cremation have taken place. 

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be planned at a later date.
