Ruth Louise Telthorst, 97 a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully with her family by her side  on July 15, 2023, her 97th birthday. Born in St. Louis, MO, on July 15, 1926, to William and Freida C. (Rothweiler) Luhmann, Ruth lived a life filled with love, joy, and dedication to her family and community.

Ruth was a proud graduate of Hadley High School in 1942. She continued to live in St. Louis until 1970, when the family relocated to Sullivan. On May 21, 1949, she married the love of her life, Howard F. Telthorst. Their union was blessed with six children, creating a warm and loving home where laughter and love were never in short supply.

Ruth was a devoted stay-at-home mother while her children were young, dedicating her time and energy to raising them with love and kindness. As her children grew and left the nest, Ruth channeled her skills into a successful career as a bookkeeper. She served at D&E Accounting, Century 21, and Family Motor Inn, demonstrating her hard work, dedication, and attention to detail.

Ruth's love for life extended beyond her family and work. She was an active member of her community, often seen at the Sullivan Senior Center, where she also volunteered her time. Ruth had a passion for bowling and playing cards, and she cherished every moment spent with her family and friends.

Ruth is survived by her three children, Scott Telehorst of Virginia, Diane Palmer and her husband Danny of Sullivan, and Karen Rivet and her husband Thomas of Elgin, Ok. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Tiffany Weiskopf and her husband Chris, and Michael Telthorst, both of Sullivan, MO; her daughter-in-law, Gay Telthorst of Sullivan, MO; and her two great-grandchildren, Paul and Payton Weiskopf. Ruth also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, William and Freida Luhmann; her husband, Howard F. Telthorst, Sr., and her three sons, Howard F. Teltehorst, Jr., Walter, and Thomas Telthorst. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, a testament to a life well-lived.

Ruth Louise Telthorst's life was marked by dedication, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and community. She will be remembered for her kindness, her laughter, and the love she shared with everyone she met. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those she has left behind. Rest in peace, dear Ruth. Your memory will forever be cherished.

Cremation services have taken place. There will be no services at this time.

 

All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home and Cremation Center.
