Ronald “Red” McFarland, 76, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.

Ronald Russell McFarland, known as Red, was born on May 4, 1945 in St. Louis, MO to Floyd O. and Audenia Ann (Wall) McFarland. He graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1963. On November 26, 1963, Red the United States Air Force and served his country until February 23, 1968.

As a young man, Red was employed at several businesses in town, including being a parts manager and pumping gas at B&B. At age 65, he retired from Aerofil in Sullivan.

Red was united in marriage to Judy Ann Gargus on June 8, 1996. They enjoyed 25 years together. Red was an avid bowler and had bowled his first 300 game at age 17. He continued bowling throughout his life. Red also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a frequent visitor at the Sullivan VFW, where he made many friendships and enjoyed playing shuffle board. Red and Judy attended Temple Baptist Church of Sullivan, where they were members.

Red is survived by his wife, Judy McFarland, of Sullivan, MO; two sons, Steven McFarland and wife Debbie of Dorsett, England and Robert McFarland and wife Melissa of Vienna, IL; four step-daughters: Angela Howard and husband Lee of Chapman, KS, Robin Betz and husband Chuck of St. Clair, MO, Jaimie Kleekamp and husband Greg of Washington, MO and Melissa Sheehan and husband Dan of St. Charles, MO; eighteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Stanley McFarland, Sr. and wife Karen of St. Louis, MO, Randall McFarland and wife Cynthia of Sullivan, MO and Kenneth McFarland and wife Patty of Sullivan, MO; his good friend, Carolyn DeBrecht; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Audenia McFarland; and one granddaughter, Taryn Betz.

Cremation arrangements have taken place. A memorial service will be 12 p.m., Monday, February 21, 2022 at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan, with Pastor Scott Perry officiating. Military honors will follow the service.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, prior to the service at Temple Baptist Church.
