Robert L. Marsh, age 87 passed away November 26, 2022 at Life Care.  He was born in Kansas City, KS, but grew up in the Bourbon/Japan areas.  He married the former Janet Barth and to this marriage two children were born, Michael and Annette.

He served in the U. S. Army from 1955-1958.  Part of this time was in Europe. Upon his discharge, he drilled and blasted rock along the Missouri river to build dikes for flood control.

He was employed through the 1960’s until Meramec Mining closed in 1976, Bob worked as a long hole drill supervisor and then supervisor over the fire protection and security at Meramec Mining.

He joined the Sullivan Volunteer Fire Department in 1965.  He was an active fire fighter for over thirty years. During those years, he held all of the offices, including Fire Chief and later Sullivan Fire Marshall.  His advanced training enabled him to achieve many things.  He organized and conducted many fire training, fire prevention, safety and first aid seminars for the fire department, businesses, school children, and the general public.  He was voted Fireman of the Year in 1983.

For four years, he was a member of the Franklin County’s Bomb and Arson Squad that investigated arson related fires and bomb threats.

From 1976 to 1982 Bob was a charter member of the Sullivan Police Auxiliary.

In 1969 he began his business, the Franklin County Fire Extinguisher Company.  He owned and operated this business for 31 years, until he retired in 1999. Since then he and Janet traveled extensively and did many things they did not have time to do before.

He is survived by his wife Janet of 63 years, one son Michael (Ann) of Bourbon, MO, daughter Annette Isgriggs (Jim) of Sullivan, MO, two grandchildren, Matthew (Tiffany) of Sullivan, MO, and Jamie Isgriggs of Ballwin, MO; four great-grandchildren, Aubree, Kelston, Cohen and Logan Isgriggs all of Sullivan, MO; one half- sister, Mary Alice Walker of Tennessee; two brother-in-laws, Charles Barth and William (Faye) Barth; other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in Crow Cemetery with full military honors.
