Rick Reed

Ricky Arnold “Rick” Reed was born June 15, 1953 in Washington, MO to Arla Reed and wife Wanda (nee’ Luchsinger). He passed away Friday, August 06, 2021 in Union, MO at the age of 68 years.

Rick grew up and received his education in Union, MO. He graduated from Union High School in 1971 and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force until he was honorable discharged in 1973. He made his home in Union, MO and later moved to Sullivan, MO. He was blessed with four children.

Rick owned and operated Outdoor Sports/Reedcraft Manufacturing for many years where he crafted and manufactured boats. He later owned and operated New Season Heating and Cooling until he retired in 2009. After retirement, Rick spent much of his time on the lake fishing. He also enjoyed duck hunting and loved to take his grandchildren fishing and duck hunting. Rick loved to make people laugh and was well-known for telling jokes and pulling pranks on his friends and family members. Throughout his life, Rick enjoyed music and was the drummer in a band in his younger years. When he wasn’t on the lake, Rick enjoyed meeting friends for breakfast and chatting over a cup of coffee. He loved his family dearly and enjoyed the many opportunities with which he was blessed to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and dear friends.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Arla Reed; his mother, Wanda Randolph; and one brother, Gary Reed.

He is survived by  two sons: Derrick Reed and wife Amy of Union, MO, and Tyrick Reed and fiancée Hannah Shepherd of Sullivan, MO; two daughters: Kristy Reed of St. Peters, MO, and Arinda Nolie and husband Matt of Sullivan, MO; 7 grandchildren, other relatives and many dear friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 10 a.m. at Meramec Valley Baptist Church in St. Cloud, MO with Pastor Eric Williams officiating. Burial with full military honors followed in the Bourbon City Cemetery in Bourbon, MO.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Reed family was served by Oltmann Funeral Home in Union, MO.
