Richard F. Overman

Richard F. Overman, 76, of Sullivan, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2024, in Washington, MO.  He was born in Hornersville, MO, on February 22, 1947, to George and Eva Mae (Meeks) Overman.

Richard was a true family man, a loving husband to his wife Mollie Overman of Sullivan, MO, with whom he shared a remarkable journey since their marriage on October 19, 1963. Together, they were blessed with three children: Loueva, Richard, & John.

Richard’s early years were spent in Hornersville where he attended local schools and established a foundation of hard work and integrity. He began a career with Emmerson Electric before he and his family settled in Sullivan, MO, in 2010, to be closer to their daughter. There, he continued to dedicate himself to providing for his family by driving a truck for Goedekers Furniture until his well-deserved retirement.

Beyond his professional life, Richard had a passion for the outdoors and took immense pride in tending to his yard. He held a deep-rooted love for the St. Louis Cardinals, kept a keen eye on daily news and sports, and shared laughter freely with his great sense of humor. Richard will be remembered as a kind and caring man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Mollie; his children:  Loueva Moffitt and husband, Michael of Sullivan, MO, Richard Overman of Fenton, MO, and John Overman and significant other, Julie of St. Louis, MO; four grandchildren:  Lora Deadrick and husband, Josh of Cuba, MO, Lee Moffitt and wife, Kristin of Sullivan, MO, Hailey Overman of St. Louis, MO; a great grandson, Charlie Moffitt; his brothers: William Overman and his wife, Brenda, Buell Overman and his wife, Patricia, sisters-in-law: Bertha Overman and Victoria Overman, brother-in-law, Lawrence Renshaw; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva Mae Overman; and siblings: Edward Overman and his wife, Dorothy, George E. Overman and his wife, Sarah, Jewell Overman, Opal (Overman) Shands and her husband, Carl, Pansy (Overman) Howard and her husband, Grover, Elizabeth (Overman) Sackett and her husband, Roosevelt, Jimmie Overman, Mary Overman, Jannett (Overman) Renshaw, Evelyn (Overman) Strickline and her husband, Homer, Jessie Overman, and Tim Overman.

Services are not planned at this time.  Cremation will take place.
