Raymond A. Koppelmann

Raymond A. Koppelmann, 82, of Sullivan, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at his home.
Raymond Andrew Koppelmann was born on August 21, 1941, in Leslie, Missouri, to John and Mary (Ellis) Koppelmann. He spent his early years growing up in Spring Bluff; later continuing his education at Sullivan High School.
On April 8, 1960, shortly after his high school years, Ray was united in marriage to Sandra Sieland. Together they were blessed with three sons: Greg, Andy, and KJ. They continued raising their young family in Sullivan.
Ray began a career at the Pea Ridge Mines, where he skillfully worked in various capacities, often as a welder, dedicating 16 years until its closure. Following this, Ray's experience led him to various nuclear plants, including a period as a welder for Calloway and even a stint in North Carolina. His working life eventually brought him back closer to home, where he was employed by KR Wilson, Peterson Oil and finally retiring from MFA.
As a family, together they created many memories vacationing across the United States. A true outdoorsman at heart, Ray enjoyed horseback riding, fishing and especially fish frys. He also enjoyed farming, raising cattle and never turned down a good buy, sell or trade.
Ray was an unwavering fan of the Cardinals baseball team. Mornings were a special part of the day for Ray, as he cherished having breakfast with his buddies, exchanging stories and reminicing on old times.
Most of all, Ray cherished the moments spent supporting and celebrating his grandkids and great-grandkids during their various sporting events.
Ray is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Koppelmann of Sullivan, MO; two sons, Andy Koppelmann and wife Susie of Leslie, MO, and KJ Koppelmann and wife Rhonda of Cuba, MO; three grandchildren: John Koppelmann and wife McKayla of Sullivan, MO, Mickinzie Koppelman – Mason and husband Josh of Cuba, MO, and Baily Stevenson and husband Jonathan of Poplar Bluff, MO; eight great-grandchildren: Zoe, Lucy, Riggs, Hayden, Logan, Payten, Blake and Chael; four sisters: Shirley Kearbey of TX, Betty Koppelmann of Sullivan, MO, Joyce Martin and husband Bob of Sullivan, MO, and Jeanie Deaton of Crocker, MO; a special friend, Barbara Terris of Sullivan, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
