Raymond Eugene Lawrence, 88, of Sullivan, MO, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Hospital – Sullivan.

Raymond was born March 24, 1933 in Stanton, MO, to the late Alexander and Ollie (Armistead) Lawrence. He grew up and attended school in Sullivan and graduated from Sullivan High School, class of 1952. Raymond entered the United States Army and served for two years, during the Korean War, before being honorably discharged.

Raymond was united in marriage to Linda Jones in 1961. Not only did he inherit Linda’s son Rick as one of his own, but they went on to have two more children together, Ronda and Bob. Throughout his earlier years, Raymond worked at the major car manufacturers, such as Chrysler, Ford and Chevy. He later became employed by Rexall Drug, where he remained for many years. Prior to retiring in 1995, Raymond worked as a stationary engineer for Deaconess Hospitals. After he retired, Raymond and his son Bob would fix up houses around the area.

Raymond enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working on vehicles. He was very fond of birds, especially hummingbirds. He even had a pet crow as a young boy. Raymond was a quiet man, but had a big heart for people and nature. He will be lovingly remembered and missed dearly.

Raymond is survived by his three children: Ronald “Rick” Lawrence and wife Rhonda of Bourbon, MO, Ronda Kipp and husband James of Fernandina Beach, FL, and Robert “Bob” Lawrence of Sullivan, MO; eight grandchildren: Jerome Lawrence and wife Cambria of Bourbon, MO, Ronni Nanney and husband Chris of Steelville, MO, Tray Kipp of Albany, NY, Rogan Kipp of Peoria, IL, Krayton Kipp of Fernandina Beach, FL, Cory and Craig Lawrence, both of Sullivan, MO, and Christopher Lawrence of Sullivan, MO; seven great-grandchildren: Dakoda, Alizabeth, Vada, Christopher, Owen, Mason and Peyton; one great-great-grandchild, Ray Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Norman, Cecil and Herman Lawrence; and one sister, Alice Sarigiani.

Funeral services were held 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Interment followed in Stanton Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Tuesday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
