Phillip Lane Brake Jr., 72, of Bourbon, MO, known affectionately as Phil to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in his hometown of Sullivan, MO. Born on February 21, 1952, to Phillip Sr. and Albert (Saddoris) Brake in the same close-knit community, Phil's life was marked by his unwavering kindness, friendly demeanor, and courageous spirit.

Phil grew up in the neighboring towns of Cuba and Sullivan, Missouri, where he attended local schools and graduated from Sullivan High School in the year 1970. His formative years in these towns shaped not only his character but also his deep sense of community which would remain with him throughout his life.

In 1977, Phil began a long and distinguished career at RTI, where he would spend the next 36 years dedicating himself to his work and colleagues. Their loving partnership was blessed with a daughter, Rachel, who became the center of Phil's world. His role as a father was one he cherished deeply, guiding and supporting Rachel with the same strength and love that he provided to all his family.

A true outdoorsman, Phil relished in the beauty of nature. He loved hunting and fishing, and he took every opportunity to breathe in the fresh air of the great outdoors. His happiest moments were those spent surrounded by family, whether it was on trips to Gulf Shores and Virginia or watching his grandsons play football and other local sports. Phil's presence at these family events was a source of joy and encouragement to his loved ones.

Phil's life was a tapestry of special memories, woven from the times he spent with his family and friends. He was the embodiment of kindness, always there with a helping hand or a word of support.
