Patty A. Strothcamp

Patty A. Strothcamp, 70, of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at Mercy Hospital – Saint Louis.
Patricia Ann Strothcamp was born on February 19, 1954, in Washington, Missouri, to Louis “Bud” and June Gaskill. Patty's early years were spent attending grade school at Saint Anthony's Catholic School, where she developed a foundation of faith that would guide her throughout her life. She carried the lessons learned and friendships formed there into her teenage years at Sullivan High School, graduating with the class of 1972. It was after high school that Patty's life blossomed in unexpected and wonderful ways.
In 1975, Patty was united in marriage to David Strothcamp on October 10, 1975. Their shared love of adventure saw them enjoying motorcycle rides, horseback riding, and the simple pleasures of life on their small farm in Bourbon, Missouri. The couple's joy multiplied with the arrival of their two children, Erin and Daniel. Patty embraced motherhood with open arms, dedicating herself to raising her children with love and care.
As Erin and Daniel grew and ventured into high school, Patty returned to the workforce, taking on various local jobs before finding her calling as an office manager with SLP. Patty was a dedicated employee for SLP for nearly two decades.
She was an exceptional cook, known for preparing meals that ensured no one ever left her table hungry. Her love of music was a constant in her life, from supporting Erin's piano endeavors to enjoying David's Bluegrass tunes. Patty loved day trips on the ferry across the Mississippi River with her family and researching her family's genealogy. In her later years, she enjoyed watching her son Daniel tend the family land, who was always by her side, and her daily cooking lessons with her granddaughter Mati.
A storyteller par excellence, Patty had a gift of sharing stories with the precision and detail that earned her the family title of "the Ernest Hemingway of Storytelling." Her love for online shopping brought joy not only to her but also to the delivery teams from FedEx, UPS, Sam's Club, and Amazon, who will also miss her dearly.
Patty adored her grandchildren and loved to play card and board games with them. Patty had a special place in her heart for her lifelong friends: Liz Orf, Melinda Thomure, Sheila Zelch, and the late Valerie Adams.
Faith was a cornerstone of Patty's life, and she remained a faithful parishioner of Saint Anthony Catholic Church from her childhood. Her service to her church community was heartfelt, whether as a Eucharistic Minister or on the Liturgy Committee, contributing her time and energy whenever her health permitted.
Patty will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all those who were fortunate enough to know her.
