Norma Jean Trendle, 74, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Norma Jean was born at the family farm on Brazil Creek, November 19, 1947, to Clifford G. and Alice L. (Midyett) Bishop. She grew up and attended country schools at Metcalf and High Ridge, and graduated from Bourbon High School, class of 1965. Norma Jean attended one semester at SEMO and then came back to the area and married the love of her life, Vernon Trendle, on January 28, 1967, at Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Church. To their union they were blessed with five children: Vernon Alan, Jeanie, Diana, Chad, and Norma Laura-Lea. They raised their family at their place outside of Japan.

Norma Jean was always very creative. She loved sewing and decorating cakes. She even made clothing for her kids while they were growing up. Later in life, Norma Jean pursued her dream of obtaining a nursing degree. In 1995, she became a RN and went to work for Phelps County Hospital - Rolla.

Norma Jean is survived by her husband, Vernon Trendle; four of her children: Vernon Alan Trendle and wife Lynn of Bourbon, MO, Jeanie Carey and husband Dan of Bourbon, MO, Diana Martin and husband Aaron of Wildwood, MO and Chad Trendle and wife Carey of Bourbon, MO; six grandchildren: Jordan Trendle of Bourbon, MO, Garret Carey and fiancée, Miranda Kuhne, of Bourbon, MO, Dawson Carey and fiancée, Alaina Rapp, of Cuba, MO, Maya Martin of Wildwood, MO, Malia Martin of Wildwood, MO and Corbin Trendle of Bourbon, MO; an honorary grandson, Jase Moss; her mother, Alice Bishop of Owensville, MO; two brothers, Dale Bishop of Chula, MO and Dean Bishop and wife Teresa of Bourbon, MO; one sister, Robin Voss and husband Jim of Sullivan, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Norma Laura-Lea Trendle; her father, Clifford Bishop; and an infant brother.

Funeral Services were 12 p.m., Friday, April 15, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Father Tim Henderson officiating. Interment followed in Holy Martyrs of Japan Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was 5 - 8 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home.
