Michael R. Mullen, 73, of Bourbon, Missouri passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 31, 2022.

Michael Roy Mullen was born on November 4, 1948 in Saint Louis, Missouri to Roy and Lillian (Schuler) Mullen. He grew up and attended school in the Saint Louis area and graduated from Riverview High. Mike was united in marriage to Joan Stinson on December 31, 1969. He was soon drafted into the United States Army where he served two years during the Vietnam War.

After returning home from serving our country, Mike and Joan began their family and were blessed with three children: Scott, Michael, and Christine. They raised their children in Saint Louis while Mike went to work for Brede Exposition Services. He later transferred to the Local 39 where he remained employed for 30 + years as a journeyman. He retired from Local 39 in the early 2000’s.

Outside of his career, Mike was an avid duck hunter and he loved bass fishing on any lake he could. He also enjoyed collecting coins and spending time with his family. Mike was known to be a prankster and was always teasing people. He was also a very sweet, caring, and selfless person; always making sure that everyone else was taken care of before himself. He was loved by everyone he met. Mike was a devoted husband, phenomenal father, and grandfather.

In 2012, Mike and Joan decided to move to Bourbon to escape the busyness of the city life. Mike especially enjoyed the slower paced life in the country.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Joan Mullen, of Bourbon, MO; three children: Scott Mullen and wife Jennifer of Wentzville, MO, Michael Mullen of Bourbon, MO, and Christine Mullen of Chesterfield, MO; four grandchildren: Trevor, Thomas, Noah, and Julia Mullen; a brother, Paul Mullen and wife Teresa of Ferguson, MO; a sister, Barb Johnson and husband Ron of St. Charles, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lillian.

Funeral Services will be 12 p.m., Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with full military honors.

Visitation was held from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., Wednesday, prior to the service at Eaton Funeral Home.
