Michael Anthony Sappington, affectionately known as Mike to his many friends and family, passed away peacefully in Sullivan, Missouri, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, service, and music. Born on September 27, 1960, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Mike was one of eight siblings who celebrated a lively childhood under the watchful eyes of their parents, the late James Philo and Doris Maxine (Cromwell) Sappington.

Mike's early years were spent in Doniphan, Missouri's schools where he developed his trademark smile and honed a sense of humor that would become his signature trait. Graduating from high school in the close-knit town, Mike carried with him not just an education, but a heart full of tales and quips.

He transitioned his youthful patriotism into action by serving in the United States Marines, a duty that allowed him to crisscross the nation. After his military service, Mike was known to hitchhike across the country to visit his beloved sister. Ever the adventurer, Mike once lightened his mother's concern about his perilous job changing light bulbs on cell towers via helicopter with the cheeky retort, "Somebody has to do it."

Following in the tracks of his family legacy, Mike embraced the open road as an over-the-road truck driver. The role was a perfect match for his curious soul, allowing him to witness the myriad of beautiful sites the United States had to offer while sharing his warmth and spirited banter with people from coast to coast.

Mike possessed a compassionate nature that endeared him to everyone he met. His caring personality was matched only by his zealous love for his faith. A devout Christian, Mike never hesitated to express the goodness of God, an expression of his conviction and devout faith.

His life was a song, played to the melody of a guitar that he strummed skillfully, singing alongside his musically-inclined family. Music was not just a hobby for Mike; it was a way to connect with others, to bring joy, and to worship in the way that resonated most closely with him.

As Mike takes his final bow before the grand audience of eternity, he leaves behind a chorus of individuals who were fortunate to cross paths with him. His stories, compassion, sense of humor, and melodies will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved him. It is with a smile that we bid farewell to Mike Sappington, a man who truly lived life to the fullest. In the ever positive words of Mike, “All Is Well”

Mike is survived by five of his eight siblings, James Sappington and wife Melinda of Springfield, MO, Vinita Sappington of Salem, MO, Sarah Mercer and husband Bobby of Sullivan, MO, Robert Sappington and wife Karla of Naylor, MO, Doyle Sappington and wife Le of Poplar Bluff, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousin other relatives and many friends.

Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and David Sappington.

The Sappington family have chosen cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later time. All arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
