Matthew Leroy Keogh, Sr.
Matthew Leroy Keogh, Sr., 91, of Sullivan, MO passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Life Care Center of Sullivan.
Matthew Leroy Keogh, known as Lee, was one of seven children born to Harold L. and Jeanette L. (Ovary) Keogh in St. Louis, MO. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from June 4, 1952 to May 19, 1954. Lee was united in marriage to Shirley Jean Woodruff on April 4, 1955 in Cuba, MO and their union five children were born: Betty, Mike, Dale, Sandra, and Matt.
Lee was a longtime employee of the former Bobber Travel Center where he worked his way through the ranks, eventually becoming the Manager. After retiring, Lee enjoyed spending time with his wife and hunting and fishing.
Lee is survived by four of his children: Elizabeth “Betty” Keogh of Leasburg, MO, Allen “Dale” Keogh of Sullivan, MO, Sandra Meyer and husband Joe of Vandalia, MO, and Matthew Keogh, Jr., and wife Amanda of Sullivan, MO; eight grandchildren: Chris Keogh and wife Erin, Sheri Wolfe and husband Jacob, James Meyer and wife Michelle, Jennifer Clayton and husband Orion, Jacob Keogh, Daniel Keogh, Jonathan “Carter” Keogh, and Chloe Keogh; eleven great-grandchildren: Nikolas, Aubree and Alexa Keogh, Natalie, Samuel and Caroline Wolfe, Alex and Natalie Meyer, Orion and Orianna Clayton, and Ayden Brown; one brother, Harold “Sonny” Keogh; one sister, Martha Hardecke; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Keogh; one son, Mike Keogh; his parents, Harold and Jeanette Keogh; three brothers: Frank, Mike, and Richard Keogh; and one sister, Colleen Ray.
Cremation arrangements have taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Friday, January 13, 2023 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan. Services will conclude with full Military Honors.
