Mary Lou Wigger, 85, of Sullivan, MO, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023, at Gasconade Manor in Owensville, MO. Born on June 13, 1938, in Sullivan, Mary Lou was a pillar of strength, kindness, and love to all who knew her.

 

On December 31, 1955, Mary Lou married the love of her life, Dean Wigger Sr., in Hernando, MS. Together, they raised four children: Kim, Pam, Tom, and Dean Jr., in Sullivan.

 

A diligent worker, Mary Lou spent many years as a secretary at Betz Bros Printing. She also held positions at Bell Telephone, MidWest Shoe Co., and Paramount Apparel. Despite being diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease over 25 years ago, she remained resilient and persevered, continuing to live life with grace and fortitude.

 

Mary Lou was passionate about her interests which varied from traveling, reading, gardening, to embroidering. Over the years, she embarked on various church mission trips around different states in the US, creating beautiful memories and strengthening her faith. She cherished spending time at the family clubhouse on the river, a place filled with joy and laughter. Mary Lou was an avid reader, losing herself in the world of books, and she was incredibly skilled at embroidery, creating intricate designs that were as beautiful as they were heartfelt. She also enjoyed visiting the West Coast to see her son, Dean Jr., and his family.

 

Mary Lou is lovingly remembered by her children: Kim Hawkins and husband, Brad of Bourbon, MO, Pam Curry and husband, Chuck of Eureka, MO, Tom Wigger and wife, Chris of Sullivan, MO, and Dean Wigger Jr. and wife, Christine of Ojai, CA. She was a doting grandmother to her 12 grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to 29 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Betty Pondrom and husband Wayne of Sullivan, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

 

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Wigger Sr., who passed away in 2014; her parents, Raymond and Lucy Merritt, and a sister, Sadie Mueller.

 

Services will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Sullivan with Pastor Chester Lahmann officiating. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery, Sullivan.

 

Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Monday, July 10, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Sullivan.

 

Memorial contributions may be given in Mary Lou’s memory to the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Research and/or First Baptist Church of Sullivan, MO.
