Mary Jane Shafferkoetter, 82, of Sullivan, Missouri, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, March 21, 2022 at StoneBridge in Owensville.

Mary was born in Bland, MO, on October 6, 1939, to Ezra and Lydia (Gibson) Koenig. She grew up and attended school in Bland and graduated from Bland High School, class of 1957. Soon after high school, Jane was united in marriage to the love of her life, Marvin Shafferkoetter, on October 12, 1957. Shortly after they were married, they spent their honeymoon in Paris, France.

Later, they were blessed with two daughters, Marla and Marsha. They continued to raise their family in Sullivan, where Jane was employed by Midwest Shoe, while Marvin owned and operated M&M Motors. While residing in Sullivan, Jane served within the community as President of the Business Professional Women’s Club. She also served as the very first female President of the Sullivan Area Chamber of Commerce.

Jane and her family enjoyed boating on the Lake of the Ozarks. The lake was like a second home to them. When their daughters were younger, they enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping as a family. They would also play golf and travel to various destinations with friends.

Later in her life, Jane went to work alongside her husband at M&M Motors, where she took on many different roles, including bookkeeping. Jane loved to decorate for each season and a variety of different occasions. She was a phenomenal hostess; Christmas Eve parties were an all-time favorite for many of her family and friends. She also enjoyed spending time playing bridge with her friends.

Jane was fiercely independent, very strong willed, and above all, a devoted wife and mother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very dear to her. Jane will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

Jane is survived by her daughter, Marsha Thompson and husband Tom of Sullivan, MO; three grandchildren: Christopher Williams of St. Louis, MO, Max Thompson of Springfield, MO and Sam Thompson and wife Christine of Sullivan, MO; two great–grandchildren, Bella Jean Williams and Chrishia Khaye Thompson, and another great-grandbaby is on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; a daughter, Marla Williams; her parents, Ezra and Lydia; a brother, James Koenig; and a sister, Gloria Koenig.

Memorial Services were held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, with Tom Thompson officiating.
