Mary Ann Welling

Mary Ann Welling, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, entered into God’s kingdom on Saturday March 18, 2023 at the age of 91. Mary Ann, known by many as “Mickey,” was born May 9, 1931 to Joseph and Gertrude Schrader. 

 

On November 24, 1955 Mickey married Richard Edward Welling, and after 51 years of a beautiful life together, and making many wonderful memories, he preceded her in death.  Mary Ann joined the Army after completing her college education. She was trained to be a physical therapist and treated the wounded of the Korean War. Upon leaving the Army she was a First Lieutenant.  She resumed her career as a physical therapist after her youngest child started school.  After moving to Sullivan in 1992, she became very active and involved at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. 

 

Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Richard; her brother, Raymond Schrader; and her son, Richard James Welling. 

 

Left to cherish her memory are her brother, James Schrader; her sister, Joyce Skitt (Donald); her sister in law, Nancy Coomes (Thomas); her sister in law, Sue Frey; her daughter, Jean Bollinger (Michael); her son Michael Welling (Karen); her daughter, Lynn Spencer (Ronald); her son Joseph Welling (Radoslava); her daughter, Cris Brown (James); her son Daniel Welling; her daughter, Gail Bowman (Matthew); her son Raymond Welling (Joy); and her son, Edward Welling (Nicole). She is survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

Mary Ann graciously donated her body to St. Louis University School of Medicine. Her family welcomes friends to her Memorial Mass on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 10:30 am at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Sullivan.
