Marvin O. “Bud” Briggs
Marvin O. “Bud” Briggs,, 90, of Sullivan, MO passed away Friday, July 12, 2024. Marvin son of Orval Briggs and wife Mae, nee Harmon, was born in Sullivan, MO on March 18, 1934. On May 15, 1954 he was united in marriage to Lynn Sterling.
Marvin was affectionately call “Bud” most of his life. He was well loved and respected in the community. As a life long member of Reedville Baptist Church, he dedicated himself to the service of others. Joining the USAF in 1952, he served his country 20 years in many locations around the world, including Alaska, Goose Bay, Labrador, and Turkey.
His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, camping, and woodsman ship, which he participated in with many young men in church youth groups, sharing his knowledge and experience.
His favorite hobby was mushroom hunting; spending days and weeks combing through the woods where he mastered his skill like no other.
He never met a stranger he was not willing to help. He never had a friend he was not willing to die for. And he never met a foe he was not willing to forgive. Most of all he was a man of integrity. He was dedicated and committed to his family through 66 years of marriage. Loved by his wife, honored by his children, and adored by his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and remembered with admiration by all who knew him.
Marvin is survived by his children Vicki Harms and husband Ray J., Alex Briggs and wife Lynda, Doug Brigand wife Mary, two sisters Polly Griffith and Nancy Briggs; ten grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Orvel and Mae Briggs, his wife Lynn, two sisters Jo Farris and Margie Stahlman.
A grave side service was held at Reedville Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024. Following was a private dinner held for the family.
