Margueritte L. “Maggie” Roderique, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Maggie was born to Leo Cleveland and Josephine Alice (Yarbrough) Rulo on July 5, 1932 in Washington County, MO and grew up with a large and loving Catholic family. On May 24, 1952, Maggie married the love of her life, Claude E. Roderique, Sr., in St. Louis, MO. The couple enjoyed 44 years of marriage, during which Maggie devotedly cared for her husband during the last five years of their union. She also lovingly cared for her special needs daughter, Cora Faye until her passing on February 23, 2019. Maggie’s love for her family was unwavering, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always came first in her heart.

Maggie’s strong work ethic was evident in her 20-plus years of employment as a cook at the former Bobber Cafe. After retiring in 1992, Maggie and Claude moved to Springfield for a time before returning to Sullivan in August 1996. Throughout her life, Maggie was an active and engaged member of her community, always eager to lend a helping hand. Maggie was also a faithful Christian woman and followed Christ in believers’ baptism on July 14, 1957. Together Maggie and Claude attended the Church of Christ for the entirety of their lives.

In her leisure time, Maggie enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including bowling, fishing, camping, and quilting. She was also an avid fan of Cardinal Baseball, often boasting about her “front row seat” in her recliner at home. Maggie’s love for sports and outdoor activities was matched only by her love for her family, who brought joy and laughter to her life.

Maggie will be remembered as a strong, loving, and compassionate woman who left an indelible mark on the lives of those she encountered. Her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community serves as a testament to her generous spirit and kind heart.

Maggie is survived by her four children, Claude E. Roderique, Jr. of Nixa, MO, Janice Edgar and husband Bill, Cheryl Roderique all of Springfield, MO; Cheri Thexton and husband Cliff of Sullivan; four grandchildren, Taylor Thexton and significant other, Shylynne Almo and Jordan Thexton of Sullivan, MO, Emily Bernard and husband Julien, and Stacie Viele and husband Jake, all of Springfield, MO.
